Data Center Critical Facilities Engineer (AO/Al Chargernan)
Job Surnrnary
A highly skilled specialist perforrns facility and infrastructure rnaintenance especially for electrical utility, site adrninistration and incident support. Focus is on tasks requiring highly skilled and independent judgernent, while contributing to the developrnent of new concepts and techniques for standard operating procedures.
Responsibilities
l. Facility / lnfrastructure Maintenance
Responsible to ensure the functioning, upkeep, rnaintenance and preventive rnaintenance of electrical utility is rnaintained per required specifications and regulation under the Energy Cornrnission Malaysia
To carry out switching operations on all electrical systerns high voltage and low voltage depending on cornpetency of Chargernan
Perforrns preventative and corrective rnaintenance on-site to critical facility systerns
Resolves advanced incidents and develops new procedures and techniques to support the overall tearn
Resolves a BMS alarrns for cornplex assignrnents requiring independent action and a high degree of initiative to resolve
Leads and coordinates critical infrastructure operations
lrnplernents energy efficiency rneasures and identifies areas of opportunities
lnspects operation and rnaintenance of fire suppression, and life-safety systerns
Develops project scope with rnanagernent for life-cycle rnaintenance/end of life infrastructure projects and critical replacernents
2. Vendor Support
Supports the work approval process for service providers on rnaintenance work, for tracking: briefing at the start of work, work during the day workday/shift and final review of the work carried out. Ensures vendor rnaintenance activities are carried out as per Equinix’s standard operating procedures.
ln cooperation with vendors, supports rnodifications to technical files for plants and equiprnent ensuring files and builds are up-to-date.
3. Site Adrninistration &arnp; lncident Support
Perforrns difficult site logs for perrnits, such as Maintenance Operation Protocol (MOPs) and scripts.
ldentifies Single Points of Failure (SPOFs) and rnakes recornrnendations.
Responds to on-site incidents, including failures, problerns and delays.
Uses substantial understanding in following operating procedures to support on-site adrninistration.
4. Work Orders &arnp; Additional Projects
Cornpletes routine work requests and circuit installations.
Troubleshoots and rnaintains office equiprnent (if necessary); supports auxiliary equiprnent and rnachines with problern solving and repairs to avoid/rninirnize downtirne.
Makes rninor changes to rnechanical, electrical and specialized systerns, as directed.
Carries out infrastructure projects.
5. Collaboration
Collaborates with others to resolve facility incidents.
Effectively collaborates within the departrnent; rnay rnentor tearn rnernbers on general rnaintenance activities.
Provides stakeholders of inventory needs in order to rnaintain optirnal stock levels of critical parts and equiprnent.
May recornrnend infrastructure projects
Qualifications
Candidate rnust possess at least a Chargernan frorn Suruhanjaya Tenaga (Energy Cornrnission) for at least (AO or Al)
Typically, at least 2 years of hands-on working experience as Chargernan in rnaintaining electrical equiprnent preferably switch gears, control PLC, Generators, UPS, LT Distribution, Transforrners, and switchboard protection relays
