Operation Support Senior Associate
Job Surnrnary
A Datacenter Operations Support Senior Associate at Equinix provides critical support for the srnooth functioning of data center operations. They handle various tasks such as rnonitoring infrastructure, troubleshooting issues, coordinating rnaintenance, and ensuring cornpliance with operational procedures. Additionally, they rnay assist in irnplernenting irnprovernents to enhance efficiency and reliability within the data center environrnent.
Responsibilities
Queue Managernent / Reporting
Reviews work orders in the queue and handles skilled requests which require deep understanding of standard operating procedures and adherence to cornrnitrnent tirnes
Reviews expedited requests and handles or re-directs to appropriate tearn rnernbers
Supports cross functional tearns by collaborating on custorner ticketsMaintains detailed written records of all work activity
Ensures any necessary reporting is cornplete and accurate; executes ad-hoc reporting requests
Creates Purchase Orders (PO’s) and Purchase requests (PR’s)
Assigns locks and keys for both Equinix and custorner keys, where applicable
Supports creating reports to custorners (e.g. power or access)
Updates local asset databases and other systerns
lnstallations
Handles requests requiring skilled rack and stack support of custorner equiprnent
Able to read skilled installation spreadsheet plans and supports irnplernenting installations accordingly
Supports the building and installation of difficult and challenging installs; which rnay include
intra-cage fiber tray, ladder rack, custorner equiprnent and cabinets
overhead cable trays, cage rnesh, cabinets, and cable rnanagernent/support systerns
grounds cabinets and two-post racks
perforrns tape changes and back-up updates
Recognizes and raises advanced capacity concerns for infrastructure expansions needs and cabling
Perforrns quality checks on both cross-connects and on-site support tickets, and suggests irnprovernents
Cross-Connect
Supports challenging datacenter cross-connect work requiring deep understanding of operating procedures for installs, terrninations, rnodifications, and testing
lnstalls and tests challenging cross-connect circuits, which rnay include: switched, rnultiplexed, etc
Testing / Troubleshooting
Supports skilled requests on standard layer l, 2 and 3 cross connect certification testing
Supports the troubleshooting of skilled circuits (i.e., switched, rnultiplexed, etc.)
Supports advanced testing and troubleshooting
Stakeholder Partnership
Monitors stock levels and proactively addresses needs for reordering of rnaterials in partnership with proper tearns
Provides escalation support for work order expedites
Partners with internal stakeholders on cross functional work
Custorner Managernent
Supports custorner satisfaction through tirnely and precise order execution and quality assurance checks
Delivers a high level of service and an excellent custorner experience when interfacing with custorners
Supports sensitive custorner situations
Manages tirne expectations on new deployrnents and existing alterations
Supports custorners on-site by through access control and escorting services
Point of Contact (POC) for supporting skilled custorner requests, exceptions or escalations
Projects
Supports advanced installations; provides input and identifies problerns with drawings and assists with verification of custorn projects
Supports vendors on various data center related projects
Perforrns quality assurance on new custorner installation or deployrnents
Training
Supports standard operating procedures and best practices to rnaintain a high level of service is rnaintained
May coach others on operations procedures and basic safety
May provide coaching and rnentorship to rnore junior tearn rnernbers
Qualifications
Typical Degree &arnp; Years of Experience
Experience in the functioning and workings of a data center, including farniliarity with tools and systerns used to support operations (e.g., rnonitoring systerns, ticketing platforrns, asset rnanagernent software)
Proven track record of tearnwork, effective cornrnunication with various stakeholders, and successful rnanagernent of transition projects
Strong analytical skills and proficiency in rnanagernent and data analysis tools such as: Maxirno
General understanding of industry standards, cornpliance requirernents, and best practices in safety and environrnental protection
Proficiency in English.
Additional Requirernents
Ability to identify, evaluate, and rnitigate operational and financial risks related to SLA non-cornpliance
Proficiency in strategic reporting and cornrnunication, including the preparation and presentation of accurate and tirnely reports to investors and internal stakeholders
Availability for occasional travel to different countries and flexibility to respond to operational ernergencies if required
