Senior/Network Service Engineer – Service Reliability Engineering
Job Summary
Part of a wider the Global Service Reliability Engineering team, this role will have responsibility to operate, monitor and support Equinix networks across EMEA/APAC/AMER regions.
Performing 2nd and 3rd level troubleshooting to resolve system & network performance related issues, whilst driving continuous service improvements and working closely with the Service Delivery Team to ensure an outstanding service to all partners.
To support the 24 hour nature of the business, this position will participate in an on-call rotation and although predominantly office based there are times when you will be required to work in our datacenters.
Responsibilities
Manage service operations in a large service provider environment, utilizing MPLS, BGP, VXLAN, and Segment Routing to deliver reliable network services.
Configure and troubleshoot packet-based networks and transport protocols (OSPF, BGP, MPLS, VRF, VXLAN) across various vendors, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
Drive incident resolution by identifying root causes, documenting findings, and tracking remedial actions for continuous improvement.
Oversee cloud connectivity products and their integration within the service provider network.
Serve as the primary interface between Network Engineering and the Network Operations Center, fostering effective communication and collaboration.
Utilize monitoring tools (e.g., Zabbix, Nagios) to proactively identify performance issues and ensure high service availability.
Develop and implement network automation strategies to streamline operations, reduce manual tasks, and enhance efficiency.
Establish best practices for service reliability, focusing on automation, monitoring, and incident response.
Design and maintain automated self-healing processes to minimize downtime and improve network resilience.
Leverage scripting languages (Python, Bash) to create automation scripts for configuration and management tasks.
Operate and maintain Linux-based tools and services (Red Hat, Ubuntu, KVM) for a stable operational environment.
Analyze network performance data to identify trends and bottlenecks, driving improvements in service delivery.
Participate in on-call rotation to provide expert support for network incidents, ensuring timely resolution to meet SLAs.
Stay current with industry trends in network automation and service reliability, seeking opportunities for infrastructure enhancement.
Lead multiple projects concurrently while managing deadlines in a high-demand environment.
Exhibit strong project planning and management skills, with the ability to assess risks effectively.
Demonstrate flexibility and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams across different regions.
Communicate fluently in English, both spoken and written.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and related work experience
Basic knowledge of ServiceNow and ITIL process to understand the Incident, Request, Problem & Change process
Understanding and experience in ticket prioritization and management
Demonstrable experience in supporting global network infrastructure (troubleshooting, operations, configurations)
Demonstrable experience in troubleshooting on various OSI levels
Advanced knowledge and experience of routing and switching protocols (OSPF, BGP, STP, VLAN, etc.) and network hardware (switches, routers, firewalls, etc.) Juniper preferred
Hands-on experience in production network configuration changes and troubleshooting
Experience in use of packet capture tools
Ready to work in a hybrid office + WHF environment
CCNP Service Provider, CCIE , JNCIP, JNCIE or similar professional level certification preferred
Preferred
Preferred experience in a Service Provider or Cloud Network environment

Experience having handled Troubleshooting and Operations in a Global Network environment
