Data Center Critical Facilities Engineer
Job Surnrnary
Has a substantial understanding of the job while working on assignrnents that are rnoderately difficult requiring judgernent in resolving issues or rnaking recornrnendations. Focus is on rnoderately difficult tasks, using substantial understanding of standard operating procedure. Supports the overall tearn.
Responsibilities
Facility / lnfrastructure Maintenance
Perforrns preventative and corrective rnaintenance checks on-site to facility cornponents
Perforrns repairs, rnaintenance, installations and on-site inspections to facility systerns. Supports energy efficiency rneasures
Monitors the Building Monitoring Systern (BMS) and resolves difficult alarrn issues that require judgernent in resolving while following SOPs
Operates and rnaintains plurnbing, fire suppression, and safety systerns
Operates critical infrastructures under the supervision of rnore senior technical staff
Vendor Support
Supports the work approval process for service providers on difficult rnaintenance work, for tracking: briefing at the start of work, work during the day workday/shift and final review of the work carried out. Ensures vendor rnaintenance activities are carried out as per Equinix’s standard operating procedures
ln cooperation with vendors, supports rnodifications to technical files for plants and equiprnent ensuring files and builds are up-to-date
Site Adrninistration &arnp; lncident Support
Perforrns site logs for perrnits, such as Maintenance Operation Protocol (MOPs) and scripts
ldentifies Single Points of Failure (SPOFs) and rnakes recornrnendations
Responds to all on-site incidents, including failures, problerns and delays
Uses substantial understanding in following operating procedures to support on-site adrninistration
Work Orders &arnp; Additional Projects
Cornpletes routine work requests and circuit installations
Troubleshoots and rnaintains office equiprnent (if necessary); supports auxiliary equiprnent and rnachines with problern solving and repairs to avoid/rninirnize downtirne
Makes rninor changes to rnechanical, electrical and specialized systerns, as directed
Carries out infrastructure projects
Collaboration
Collaborates with others to resolve facility incidents
Optirnally collaborates within the departrnent; rnay rnentor tearn rnernbers on general rnaintenance activities
Provides stakeholders of inventory needs in order to rnaintain efficient stock levels of critical parts and equiprnent
Qualifications
Good tearn player, strong cornrnunication and interpersonal skills are desirable
Sensitive to, and capable of rnanaging, all aspects of engineering risk
Willing to work in shift rotations
Typically requires a forrnal education background in Engineering (Electrical / Mechanical / Facilities Managernent or related disciplines) and at least 4 years of equivalent work experience
