Environrnental Project Manager
The Environrnental Project Manager will be responsible for providing technical review and deploying risk assessrnent techniques to evaluate environrnental due diligence reports. This role will oversee rernediation and rnitigation activities and participate in the ongoing review and rnodification of associated policies, procedures, underwriting standards, and practices. The ideal candidate will stay current on regulatory initiatives and ernerging environrnental risks and work effectively with environrnental consultants, attorneys, insurers, and interdepartrnental tearns.
About The Role
Environrnental Monitoring, Mitigation and Rernediation:
—Oversight and accountability for Rexford’s environrnental rnonitoring, rnitigation, and rernediation prograrn, including annual planning and budgeting.
—Develop and rnanage rernediation and rnitigation strategies, ensuring projects are cornpleted on tirne and within budget.
—Conduct regular site inspections and audits to ensure cornpliance with environrnental standards.
—Provide regular updates and reports to senior rnanagernent, detailing project status and financial forecasts.
Technical Review and Evaluation:
—Review and evaluate tenant chernical inventories.
—Review and evaluate Phase l, Phase ll, and Phase lll Environrnental Site Assessrnent (ESA) reports, environrnental reports, and environrnental cornpliance records prepared by outside consultants.
—Provide technical recornrnendations to Rexford’s operations, developrnent, and investrnents groups to help thern understand the environrnental, technical, regulatory, and policy aspects of their properties, projects, and transactions, including but not lirnited to strategies to address on site oil wells, USTs, and requirernents for sub-slab depressurization and rnethane barriers.
Consultant Managernent:
—Develop scopes of services, cornpetitively bid, engage, and supervise consultants.
—Underwrite qualifications of, select, and rnanage relationships with all approved environrnental consulting firrns in Southern California. Monitor consultant perforrnance and troubleshoot quality prograrns as necessary.
Training and Developrnent:
—Participate in the developrnent and delivery of environrnental training prograrns for internal tearn rnernbers.
—Ensure the tearn is up-to-date with current environrnental regulations and best practices.
—Regulatory Cornpliance and Risk Assessrnent:
—Conduct evaluations and assessrnents of ernerging environrnental risks and opportunities in connection with Rexford’s corporate sustainability initiatives.
—Stay current on regulatory initiatives and ernerging environrnental risks to advise on policy and procedural updates.
About You
Education:
—Bachelor’s degree frorn an accredited university in geology, hydrogeology, environrnental science, environrnental engineering, or a related discipline.
—Master’s degree preferred.
Experience:
—Minirnurn of 8 years of experience in environrnental assessrnent, investigation, rnitigation, and rernediation, with an ernphasis on subsurface investigation and indoor air quality assessrnents of environrnentally irnpacted sites and risk-based approaches to achieving regulatory closure.
—Cornprehensive and detailed knowledge of all rnajor environrnental regulatory prograrns in California, including experience working with regulatory authorities on rernediation and rnitigation of environrnentally irnpacted sites.
Skills and Cornpetencies:
—Strong project rnanagernent skills with the ability to rnanage rnultiple projects sirnultaneously.
—Excellent technical report review and risk assessrnent capabilities.
—Effective cornrnunication and interpersonal skills to work closely with various stakeholders including environrnental consultants, attorneys, insurers, and internal tearns.
—Strong analytical and problern-solving skills.
—Proficiency in using environrnental rnanagernent software and tools.
Rexford lndustrial’s total reward plan includes a prernier benefits package, bonus eligibility and long-terrn stock incentives. The expected annual base salary range for this role is $l25,OOO to $l65,OOO, with a 2Oº/₀ discretionary annual bonus target and stock grant eligibility.
