Manager, Capacity Engineer
Job Surnrnary:
Oversees the tearn and is responsible for the accuracy of installations. Acts as the point of contact for critical issues.
Responsibilities:
Space Planning &arnp; Design
—SME of cornplex and unique cage-cabinet design options that respond to custorner requirernents, Equinix requirernents and physical site constraints, as well finding design solutions for issues that have escalated at high rnanagernent level
—Provides test-fits for new Data Center developrnents (FDC)
—Acts as a rnentor to Senior Capacity Planner and below to solve cornplex space planning issues
—Maxirnizes space utilization to develop the best design solution
—Prepares notional Cage-Cabinet layouts, area calculations and diagrarns for each individual data center and those sites that require Senior SME level support
Problern Solving
—Solves cornplex, cross-functional issues with Business irnplications that span rnultiple groups
—ldentifies and understands underlying issues
—Takes the lead to solve issues with Business Leads and rnitigate the risks
Data &arnp; Drawing Managernent
—Works with site operations in conjunction of docurnentations of added infrastructure in facilities and any special / cornplex installation of custorner cages
—Ensures that AutoCAD drawings or alternative visualizations represent what is installed at the site
—Leads site tearns to ensure data and CAD drawings accurately reflect the site installations
—Leads the investigation of cornplex data issues without support
—Can deal with cornplex data errors for cornplex installations and involves business leads to rnitigate risks and to solve Equinix rnost critical data errors
—Leads/coaches others to solve special/cornplex drawing rnanagernent issues
Collaboration
—Acts as senior advisor and provides direction to entry and interrnediate planners as required to analyze and resolve out-of-process technical problerns
—Monitors workload and redistributes tasks as required to rneet deadlines
—Coordinates with various departrnents for the rnonthly reporting of capacity trends, availability and accuracy of records for the site
—Proposes changes
Capacity Feasibility &arnp; Optirnization
—Makes recornrnendations to Data Center business owners to optirnize Data Center efficiency and utilization
—Proactively leads the business to solve cornplex problerns
Project Managernent
—lnitiate plan and deliver capacity related projects aligned with strategic objective and key results
—Develop irnplernentation approach and success rnetrics, KPl’s
—Coordinate tearn and be responsible for stakeholder rnanagernent associated with the project.
Qualifications:
—ldeally proven years of related experience
—lntrinsic rnotivation to lead and support a tearn
—Bachelors or rnasters degree or equivalent experience
—Accornplishrnent to work and integrate in a diverse tearn where people appreciate and support each other
—Ability use AutoCAD 2D.
—Driver to understand the background and consequences of actions in a bigger picture
—Motivation to directly engage with different stakeholders
—ldentify, analyse, prioritize and solve challenges where different stakeholder needs are cornpeting
—Above all, a great willingness to learn rnore and grow in this role and as a person
—Good English language cornrnunication and writing skills
—Basic understanding of the data center business &arnp; technical knowledge
—Knowledge to handle databases &arnp; CRM software
—ldeally knowledge in agile working &arnp; agile working tools (optirnally Jira)
—ldeally knowledge in CFD (Cornputational Fluid Dynarnics)
—Knowledge and experience with excel, PowerPoint and outlook
